Review of Planet Hollywood hotel & casino in Las Vegas November 2009

We arrived at 5pm on a Monday & didn't have to wait in line. The room (on the 18th floor was awesome). We had 3 problems while there:
1)The toilet got plugged-from us blowing our noses (not a lot of paper). They apologized & sent a lady up to plunge it & she told us that it was the number one complaint of people who stay there. (Why aren’t there plungers in the room?)
2)Our 3rd night we were woken at 3am by what sounded like a steam train (turned out to be a service elevator next to our room). They apologized & moved us up to the 50th floor & sent a bell boy to help us move. The bell boy said they must've felt really bad because we got moved up to what they consider a business class suite (in that hotel the 50th & 51st floors come right after the 38th floor -so it's more like the 39th & 40th floors) the new floor was redone differently & the view from the new room was better (much higher up) but the room wasn't redone with a theme consistent with the hotel, like out 1st hotel room. But we got sleep.
3)We had a bit of an issue with the beds in both of our rooms - we didn't complain about it though. Whenever 2 adults (of normal size) sat on the end of the bed it raised the head of the bed off the ground. (Our friends on the other side of the hotel (facing the fountain) didn't have any of the problems we did so maybe we are just too particular?
All of that aside the service was great & we would stay there again - we would just ask not to be placed near the service elevators. Oh & we didn't pay extra to view the Bellagio fountain but we should have.
The 5$ hotel fee was great, but the free water didn't always get replenished. The drinks on us package was a nice treat also.

Holidays are booked!

We booked our holidays...We are going to Vegas in August with the friends that were over the other night...Westjet is having a 50% off sale (until midnight tonight) & the 4 of us have been trying to decided on a place to go. They suggested coming to Vegas with us.

Last year when we went the first time, we were not thrilled about going to Vegas (we don't gamble & foolishly thought that most of the things to do there would be gambling or gambling related); but we were stoked about meeting out overseas friends. We had such a good time that we decided we would go again. It is a place that everyone should at least see once - even if you don't gamble & it will be good to see their friend that we made while we were there last year.

Last weekend & our little fur

We had friends over last weekend for a BBQ supper & then stayed up drinking and visiting until 4am. Once we all woke up it was well into the afternoon & we decided to go for lunch & then they went home. It was a lot of fun.

Our cat was social (this is rare for her as she was feral when we got her) & they told us that they will be getting a cat this weekend. I am excited to see what kind of cat they pick & what they name it.

We were having leftovers from the BBQ on Monday evening & our cat jumped up on the couch & started smelling his food (this is not normal for her - so we wanted to know what smelled so good to her). Out of everything on his plate (steak, baked potato, coleslaw & niblet corn) she went for the corn. Lol Another item to add to the list (fries, steak, pepperoni sticks, marble cheese, Kraft singles etc) What a weirdo cat we have...

I will be the first to admit that Hudson's ( has awesome food & is a great summertime bar; but do they need to announce on billboards that there is 18 weeks until it snows? Like I want a reminder.... & technically it snowed here the last 2 weekends (it is supposed to be summer). A reminder of how short our summer is & how snow is not that far off will not will make me go to a restaurant/pub/lounge. As you can tell it just frustrates me more...

May long weekend

In February we signed up for Shaw home phone. We got a flyer offering 14.95 each month for 1 year. My bill came in the mail yesterday & I'll be honest, I don't look at it every month, I usually just pay it. But for some reason I looked at it. They are charging the full price for the digital phone basic! That's an overcharge of 16.00 (a full charge of 30.95) each month since February. When I tried calling them to ask about it they were closed. Grr!!

Never again do I want 3 days off in a row when I'm stuck at home. :P The weather was miserable this weekend it was raining really hard on Friday & then when we woke up on Saturday it was snowing! :( We were pretty annoyed because it's SUPPOSED to be summer, but it's pretty typical weather for May long.

We decided today that we are going to join the gym in town. We have been contemplating it for a while because it's going to be summer soon so we could exercise outdoors, but we decided to go ahead and get the monthly passes because going for a walk every night after supper isn’t really much exercise & so we will be able to use all of the features of the city’s rec center (swimming, skating, gym, walking track etc.) and still be able to workout when it's miserable outside.

On another note, my hubby had to get a bunch of work done this weekend so we couldn't really go anywhere & I didn’t really want to go anywhere or for a drive by myself, so I just stayed home & relaxed while he worked. It was a nice change from all of the running around that we usually do when we get a couple of days off, but I am definitely looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.

Migraines suck....

That's pretty much all I can muster today. I woke up with a killer migraine & am dizzy to boot.

I called work at 9am (my shift is today from 1pm-9pm) to let them know and my boss said 'you've got to be kidding me' but she sounded overwhelmed; not angry. I have been resting all morning and have blocked out the window in our room and taken my meds for it but it's not going away.

Because of her reaction I feel really overwhelmed. Should I try to go into work & suffer (& maybe get worse from it?) or should I just stay home & suffer and hopefully get better for my shift tomorrow?

Wondering if I'm not only ready but able....

I spent the day yesterday with my good friend & her 11 month old baby.

I arrived at 8:30am after dropping my husband off at school to find that she was busy prepping supper & making bread and that her little one was down for her morning nap (& had been up since 6). We visited for a bit & while I was helping her with the bread the kids next door accidentally woke up the baby. It was time for a change, then a snack & then off for a walk & a trip to the park. We were gone for about an hour & when we came back it was time to make lunch. After lunch it was time for another nap, so I cleaned up while baby was put to sleep. We visited a bit more while baby was sleeping & my friend joked how their life now revolves around food & sleep. K & M truly are blessed for having such a sweet little girl - she isn’t fussy & didn’t cry once.

I left around 2pm (just as it was time for them to leave for mom’s group) as I had to pick up my hubby from school, but I was exhausted! All I wanted to do was sleep. I couldn’t believe how drained I got from a few hours of helping take care of the baby.

We had a blast but I can’t help but think that I’m not ready, if one day was so draining how would the next 18+ years be?
